Do not rely on the first few words of the listing title. Consoles can have multiple generations, revisions, storage capacities, colors, bundles, and special editions that look similar in search results.

Confirm the exact model you are buying and compare it with what you actually want. For example, check storage capacity, hardware revision, included controllers, and whether the listing is for a complete console or only part of a system.

A condition label is a useful starting point, but the seller's description provides the details that matter for that particular console.

For electronics and video game consoles, eBay describes a Used item as previously used and potentially showing cosmetic wear while still being fully operational and functioning as intended. A listing marked For parts or not working is different: it may be defective, require repair, or be missing essential components.

Look for specific disclosure of scratches, cracks, damaged ports, controller problems, missing covers, repair history, or other defects.

A low-priced console is not necessarily the least expensive option once you replace missing accessories.

Check whether the listing includes the controller or controllers you need, power supply, charging equipment, dock or stand when applicable, video cables, storage accessories, and any other components shown or mentioned.

Compare the written description with the photos. If an accessory appears in a photo but is not clearly listed as included, do not assume it comes with the console.

Photos can reveal information that a short condition description does not.
